Looking for good soul food in Charlotte, NC? You should check out Mert’s Heart & Soul, a restaurant in the heart of the city that has been around since ‘98 and was even featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. We got the beef ribs plate with Mac and cheese and cabbage, the soul platter with fried chicken, salmon cake, and soul roll, and the red beans and rice. You heard Zah, right? We had the opportunity to try out Sweet July Cafe, Ayesha Curry’s new restaurant in Charlotte, NC located inside the Ritz Carlton hotel downtown. What I love most about this menu are the Caribbean fusion options which added a little razzle dazzle to the experience. Here’s a breakdown of what we ordered: • Queen City Pistachio Gold Valrhona Chocolate Mosiac which is a French imported chocolate. This flavor was really good and reminded us of Dubai chocolate. • Matcha pineapple soul warmer drink which can be enjoyed cold or hot • Strawberry lavender tea which can also be enjoyed cold or hot • Wagyu Shorty pita foldie which was our absolute favorite • Jamaican beef patty which is a classic anytime you go to a restaurant that has Caribbean options The only downsides I’d say would be that it was a little on the pricier side for a lunch cafe vibe, and the inside doesn’t offer much seating, but we had excellent service and tasty food, so we would come back. #charlottenc #charlottefood #sweetjulycafe #ayeshacurry #ritzcarlton
